About Julia Kassman LCSWC

Julia Kassman LCSWC (She/Her)

Monday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and Friday morning virtual availability.

Greetings, I’m Julia Kassman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) who believes that therapy is most powerful when it feels like a real, honest conversation. My goal is to offer a space where people feel genuinely seen and supported—without judgment and without pressure to be anything other than who they are.  My style is warm, collaborative, and infused with a touch of realism and humor when appropriate. I primarily work with adults with concerns related to anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship issues, eating disorders/disordered eating, stress, and substance use. I am dedicated to helping people feel more empowered, grounded and content in their lives.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” – Carl Rogers

My work is rooted in the belief that healing happens through connection—to others, to your body, and most importantly, to yourself.  I use an integrative, mind-body approach that combines evidence-based therapies, such as, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Parts Work, Mindfulness, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). My EMDR training is especially meaningful in supporting people who feel stuck in old patterns or overwhelmed by past experiences. Recognizing that well-being encompasses the whole person, I also incorporate discussions around physical health, like daily habits, nutrition, movement, and sleep, into our work. Each person’s story is unique, and I tailor therapy to reflect each person’s strengths, goals, and pace.

I hold a dual Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Public Health from Miami University of Ohio, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Denver. My clinical experience spans private practices, primary care offices, substance use treatment centers, and community mental health organizations. Throughout my career I have engaged in a variety of trainings that have greatly enhanced my work, including:

  • EMDR Trained

  • Shame-Informed Specialist Certification: Eating Disorders

  • Intuitive Eating: Healing Client’s Relationship with Food

  • CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) Certified

  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Trained

Throughout my life, I have found meaning in connecting with people—listening to their stories, sitting with emotion, and holding space in difficult moments. I also know what it’s like to struggle with mental health and how life-changing it can be to receive the right support. Becoming a therapist felt like a natural path—one rooted in the desire to help others feel less alone and to ensure that more people have access to healing and hope.

Outside of therapy, you might find me enjoying the outdoors while skiing, hiking, or walking my dog, Reggie. I also love cooking new recipes (and trying them), reading fiction, watching Bravo, and spending time with friends and family.  I strive to embody the balance I encourage in sessions by intentionally slowing down and finding joy in everyday moments.

I find ongoing learning enjoyable, and it is an important part of how I stay connected in my work. I regularly find inspiration from thoughtful voices in the field and beyond. Some of my favorite podcasts are Unlocking Us with Brené Brown, The Mel Robbins Podcast with Mel Robbins, and Sex with Emily with Dr. Emily Morse.  A few books that have influenced my perspective and clinical work are: The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel Valk, Untamed by Glennon Doyle, and The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown.
